Plattsmouth High School is a nationally recognized wall-to-wall academy high school. Our College and Career Academies began in 2016 after many years of visioning and planning by PHS staff, students, and stakeholders.

Meet Todd and Tina

Todd Halvorsen

Principal


Mr. Halvorsen is currently in his fifth year as the principal at Plattsmouth High School and his fifteenth year with Plattsmouth Community Schools. He received his Bachelors of Science Degree from Peru State College and his Masters in Education from Concordia University. Mr. Halvorsen serves as a member of the Nebraska CTE Career Academy Committee and is a member of the National Career Academy Coalition.

Tina Harvey

Assistant Principal,
Academy Facilitator


Mrs. Tina Harvey is a Plattsmouth High School Alum. She graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University with a Bachelor's degree before starting her career in Bellevue Public Schools in 2000. She earned a Masters of Education from Peru State College followed by Certifications in Educational Administration from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. Mrs. Harvey joined Plattsmouth Community Schools in 2014.

CTE Building

Career and Technical Education (CTE) Building supports expanded opportunities for students in the culinary arts, agriculture education, woods/home construction, welding/metals /manufacturing, CNC, and auto/diesel transportation.

Outstanding Equipment

All equipment is industry-standard providing relevant experience to prepare for college and career.

Hands-on Learning

Students get to learn through hands-on activities that meet current industry standards.

Coalition

The Career Academies at Plattsmouth High School earned the status of “Model Academy” in 2019 by the National Career Academy Coalition. This career academy review process is based on the National Standards of Practice - identifying career academies around the country that exemplify the career academy research-based best practices with evidence of fidelity to the National Standards of Practice.

Rule 47 approved

Plattsmouth High School became Rule 47 approved in September 2017. This designation from the Nebraska Department of Education is reserved for Academies that meet strict quality and content standards for students and stakeholders. Every career field offered at PHS is Rule 47 approved making a total of 6 approved programs.
